Make Your Own Mini Lightbox

My first real post is a photography one. Have you ever wanted to create those perfect ebay shots. Well... with a shoebox, a flashlight, and a piece of paper you can. No this is not a Macgyver episode.

These images were both taken using this technique.

Here are the steps

  • Gather supplies
  • flip shoebox on its edge so that the long side is laying on the table
  • cut a whole big enough for your flashlight's head to go through on the top of the shoebox
  • lay the paper in the box so that there is a shallow curve going towards the top of the box
  • When you shine the flashlight through you should be able to see a circular pattern as seen in the first image.
  • TO achieve a totally white background (image #2) turn the flash on and diffuse it with a bit of paper.

Completed lightbox

There you go. A cheap, if not free, mini lightbox. This is really only good for small items like the ones shown in my images.

If you can give up five minutes of your time you can get some very surprising results from this little box. I was messing around the other day and stumbled upon it. I hope it works as well or you as it did me.
